Cheri Van Winkle, MSW
Since starting her career as a social worker sixteen years
ago, Cheri has worked with families pursuing domestic,
designated, relative and international adoption, as well as
families interested in fostering children. Her background
includes two years of teaching at a community college,
eight years working with the Department of Human
Services in child and adult protection and nine years
working as an adoption social worker. As the Director of
the Colorado Branch of Children's Hope
International, Cheri continues to assist
families with their dreams of adoption.
Expertise in parenting, conflict resolution,
trauma, communication and family dynamics
makes Cheri particularly effective in helping
families. Her style is candid, direct, light-
hearted and accepting.
Cheri and her husband live in Aurora Colorado
with their three young children.
Jennifer Winkelmann, MA, LPC, NCC
Jennifer is a psychotherapist who works with individuals, couples and families.
Her primary clinical focus is with adoption and foster care issues, the impact
of early trauma and the spectrum of relationship difficulties that result from
disrupted attachments. Jennifer's approach is genuine, family centered and
compassionate, using a combination of psycho-education, family regulation and
attachment therapy techniques. Her clinical experience includes work with
residential and day treatment facilities for high-risk youth, intensive
attachment therapy, treatment foster care programs, therapy and
consultation for families with domestic and internationally adopted/fostered
children, and training for parents and educators in methods of facilitating healing for wounded

Wendy Alexander
Wendy is an occupational therapist who specializes in working with
children who have sensory integration disorder. She graduated in 2000
with her Master’s degree from Pacific University in Oregon. She moved
back to her home state of Colorado and began working with Cherry
Creek School District and Rocky Mountain Autism Services. She continues
to work for Cherry Creek School district in an early childhood
structured teaching program for kids who are on the Autism
Spectrum disorder, as well as kids who have sensory integration disorder.
She is very experienced in working with families to implement home
programming strategies. Wendy’s expertise in early childhood is complemented by her loving nature
and fun personality. Wendy lives in Aurora, CO with her husband and two boys.

Terry Altman
Facilitator Terry Altman is a certified instructor of the "Becoming a Love
and Logic Parent" workshop. Terry's experiences also include eight years
of teaching with a background in Communications. She is the mother of
one beautiful adopted daughter from China who has given her plenty of
opportunities to practice what she teaches.
Her enthusiasm and caring approach for her subject matter is
contagious. She is direct yet approachable, and easy to relate to.
Terry and her husband anxiously await their match for their second
daughter from China.
